[Mediawiki-l] MySQL issue

That sounds much more as a problem with php/mysql that mediawiki.
I remembered having that problem too, but it depends much on your
distribution, selinux, firewall, etc etc
Google the error http://www.google.com/search?q=mysql.sock and
experiment a bit, it's quite frequent.
