Well, after I sent the e-mail, I discovered this was because of a weird 
syntax error in the LocalSettings which miraculously didn't show up as a 
'parse error', but it is solved now and everything is working fine now...

Okay, nice to know it isn't entirely impossible :-), I hope indeed that 
someone would like to write an extension or howto :-)
