[Mediawiki-l] How to get search reults as an xml page?

Please let me know if this would suffice for getting results as an xml page

Hack Special:Export to parse the html page generated( or get the resultset
from LuceneSearch.php directly) and manipulate it with tags
<title>
<summary>
<relevancy>
<no of words>
<lasttimestamp>

Any futhere pointers on this
