[Mediawiki-l] "Too many connections"

We are having the next problem within ZUM-Wiki. We only get the following
message instead of the pages of the wiki:

Sorry! The wiki is experiencing some technical difficulties, and cannot
contact the database server.
Too many connections
--------------------

What will we have to do?
