[Mediawiki-l] About New version

I went to Wikipedia, put "Template:If" in the search box, clicked "GO", then
clicked "Edit This Page", and copied the wikitext there.

Then I went to my wiki, put "Template:If" in the search box, clicked "GO",
then clicked "Edit", and pasted the wikitext there.

Then I went to a new page and put in a template call like:

{{if||some stuff|other stuff}}

It didn't work. In fact, the result was really crazy-looking...

...because "If" depends on having "If2"!

So I went back to Wikipedia, put "Template:If2" in the search box, clicked
"GO", then clicked "Edit This Page", and copied the wikitext there.

Then I went to my wiki, put "Template:If2" in the search box, clicked "GO",
then clicked "Edit", and pasted the wikitext there.

Then I went back to my new page, and voila!

So "If" IS reproducible in other wikis. How understandable it is I leave to
the judgement of history <grin>.

P.S.: If you try this, PLEASE remember to go to the EDIT tab of the
Template page before copying. The "TEMPLATE" tab is worse than useless for
this kind of template, because it shows the template as it would appear if
called without parameters -- completely confusing in this case.
