I'm trying to run mwdocgen.php in the maintenance
directory of MediaWiki, and this is the result I get:

3 : only maintenance

I do have phpDocumentor installed
(1.3.0rc3, since the 1.2 consistently failed to
install with a "bad md5 checksum" error)
So how do I fix this?
