[Mediawiki-l] Major Spam Problems

This isn't the kind of problem that can be fixed, its one of those things
you have to just deal with.

There are a couple of things you can try, for example if the bot is making
lots of accounts you can impose account creation limits, there is also a
hack to add a captchas.

Also as you are running version 1.5 there are some additional tools
available (you should upgrade to version 1.5.2)

Subject: [Mediawiki-l] Major Spam Problems

I am running MediaWiki 1.5.1 on www.drumcorpswiki.com and over the last 
two weeks or so, I've begun having major spam problems.  It seems 
someone (a bot possibly?) is creating a user account and then editing 
many pages to include spam link and/or a hidden div section.  Each time, 
I have to block the user and rollback all of the changes.  Has there 
been a fix to the problem?  Please see the recent changes on the site to 
get an idea of what I've been up against.
