As for making it work with hooks etc, I don't think that is such a good idea.

The whole idea behind this was to create a spell check service that
can be used by any number of apps, as opposed to being MediaWiki
specific.

Also I am not sure how one would use wgHooks to add a link to the
EditPage. It didn't seem like there is any better way to do it except
to hack up the page. If there is a cleaner way to do it, then I would
be happy to create that.
