[Mediawiki-l] Editing Source - Bullet/Number Lists

I'm trying to locate the PHP code in source for bullet/number lists to
change the symbols used when people post, perhaps slide in alternative
methods.

Does anyone know documentation that shows where the code for this lives?

Also, once I change things, do I have to post the full source for the
project since I altered it?
