[Mediawiki-l] Customizing an extension

I want to use an extension on my wiki, the automatic wikification
extension, of which a version can be downloaded at
http://bugzilla.wikipedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2336.  This extension
automatically adds wikilinks to words in an article that need them.
However, the extension normally runs on page save.  Since I don't want
to go through all pages and save them only to run the extension, I
wanted something to go through all the pages and run the extension.

Unfortunately, I realized that my knowledge of php, mysql and the
mediawiki code is inadequate to create something like that.  So I am
begging someone, anyone, to help me with this.  I've used whole days
and only learned that the method I wanted to use was wrong.
