[Licom-l] License Disclaimers

Mike,

The GFDL says one must "preserve any warranty disclaimers".

Ages ago someone added "subject to disclaimers" to the GFDL template
used on many images with a link to the enwiki disclaimer page. We
stopped doing that years ago, but the general consensus was that the
extra disclaimer phrase and link shouldn't be removed given the GFDL
requirement that disclaimers be preserved. So many old images have a
special tag that makes special mention of the disclaimers.

CC-BY-SA has similar language saying that warranty disclaimers should
be preserved.

So what does that mean for the existing disclaimers with respect to
the licensing update?

My general thinking has been that if an image description makes
special mention of disclaimers then that mention should preserved even
after the relicensing. Other people would like to use the relicensing
as an excuse to throw away those disclaimers (which to be fair, do add
very little it anything).

I would like some feedback on which position seems more reasonable.

Thanks.
