The fsck of the original filesystem (that contains log files) is still
ongoing, and it might yet take a day or two to complete.  As soon as it
is finished, I'll be going through the requests for file recovery and
will notify you once I found them.

To answer your second question, renaming the files anything but *.out,
*.err, or *.log would work; so would moving them to a subdirectory.
