[Labs-l] Mail changes

Hello all,

In the coming week, in preparation for complete mail support for tools
and their maintainers, there will be a few changes deployed in how mail
is handled within the tools project:

== Mail to users ==

Mail sent to <username>@tools.wmflabs.org (where <username> is a shell
account) will be forwarded to the email address you have set in your
Wikitech preferences, if (and only if) it has been verified.  If you do
not have a verified email address in your preferences, the mail will bounce.

Any existing .forward in your homes will be ignored.

== Mail to tools ==

Mail can also be sent "to a tool" with either of:

tools.<tool>@tools.wmflabs.org
<tool>.*@tools.wmflabs.org

(All are considered equivalent).  Mail sent to those addresses will be
forwarded to:

a) the address in the tool's ~/.forward if it exists; or
b) to each maintainer of the tool, as above.

Please note that (a) above will eventually change so that the address
can be set through the Wikitech interface, and will require validation
like user's forwarding addresses.

Once those changes are in place (sometime this week), I will be able to
turn incoming email on.
