I did not know this is a bug. It works for me now. But as long as this
bug is not fixed, I think there should be a hint somewhere in the Labs
documentation.

I think it would be a great improvement if the two things you mentioned
— automated key upload to gerrit and shell request on registration — are
implemented and the Nova credentials issue is fixed.
