[Foundation-l] Charter for Innovation, Creativity and Access to Knowledge

Hello! Hola! Ciao!

Last week took place at Barcelona the First International Forum on free
culture and access to knowledge (Oct 29 to Nov 1) with great success. A
large coalition of organizations, creatives, hackers, researchers... from
over 20 countries was created and launched a common "Charter for Innovation,
Creativity and Access to Knowledge" (http://www.fcforum.net). Importantly,
Wikipedia is mentioned and recognised at the Charter as a model to follow.

Official observers of the European Commission, Minister of Culture of Brazil
Government and Spain were present alone the Charter agreement and several
hundreds of people (free culture practicioners!!!) got lots of fun at the
oXcars Free Culture Awards Festival (http://oxcars09.exgae.net/).

A broad coalition from over 20 countries, of hundreds of thousands of
citizens, users, consumers, organizations, artists, hackers, members of
the free culture movement, economists, lawyers, teachers, students,
researchers, scientists, activists, workers, unemployed, entrepreneurs,
creators… has come together to campaign and organise for respect and the
fullfilling of the rights of citizens and artists in the digital era.


The action started with the celebration of a First International Forum
on free culture and access to knowledge (October 29 to November 1
Barcelona) and continuous with the international launching of the
"Charter for Innovation, Creativity and Access to Knowledge".

The Charter constitutes the beginning of an unprecedented offensive of
civil society in defense of the fundamental rights in response to the
pressure of the lobbies of the culture industry and lobbies for the
privatization of education and knowledge on the national parliaments,
and particularly European Parliament.

Citizens of the digital era stand up to full fill the potential of the
digital era in the increasing freedom, justice and rewarding for all.

We invite all citizens to make this Charter theirs, spread it and
practice it.

We invite all the governments, multinationals and institutions urgently
to listen to it, understand it and enforce it.

Una coalición inclusiva proveniente de más de 20 países de cientos de
miles de ciudadanos/as, usuarios/an, consumidores/as, organizaciones,
artistas, hackers, miembros del movimiento de cultura libre,
economistas, abogados/as, profesores/as, estudiantes, investigadores/as,
científicos/as, activistas, trabajadores/as, desempleados/as,
emprendedores/as, creadores/as... se ha unido para defender y poner en
practica los derechos de la ciudadania y los y las artistas en la era
digital.

La acción empezó con la celebración del Primer Foro Internacional de
cultura y acceso al conocimiento (Del 29 de Octubre al 1 de Noviembre de
2009) y continua con la difusión de la Carta del foro de cultura de
Barcelona por la innovación, la creatividad y el acceso al
conocimiento.

La Carta constitute el inicio de una ofensiva sin precedentes de la
sociedad civil en defensa de los derechos fundamentales en respuesta a
la presión de los lobbies de la industria cultural y lobbies por la
privatización de la educación y el conocimiento sobre parlamentos
nacionales y en particular sobre el Parlamento Europeo.

La ciudadania se levanta para desarrollar el potencial de la era
digital. Que las nuevas tecnologias sirvan para aumentar la libertad y
la justicia para la toda humanidad, no para aumentar solo el beneficio
de unos pocos.

Invitamos a toda la ciudadanía a hacer suya esta Carta, difundirla,
organizarse y ponerla en práctica.

Invitamos a todos los gobiernos, multinacionales e instituciones a
escucharla urgentemente, entenderla y aplicarla.

milers de ciutadans/as, usuaris/ies, consumidors/es, organitzacions,
artistes, hackers, membres del moviment de cultura lliure, economistes,
advocats, professors/es, estudiants, investigadors/es, científics/es,
activistes, treballadors/es, aturats/es, emprenedors/es, creadors/es...
s'ha unit per a defensar i posar en practica els drets de la ciutadania
i els i les artistes en l'era digital.

L'acció va començar amb la celebració del Primer Forum Internacional de
cultura lliure i access al coneixement (29 Octubre - 1 Novembre 2009) i
continua amb la difusió de la “Carta del fòrum de cultura de Barcelona
per la innovació, la creativitat i l'accés al coneixement”.
