[Foundation-l] Board elections: Weekly report for May 18 to 25

Hello,

Following is a summary of the 2008 board elections for the week of May
18 to 26. For detailed information on the elections, see
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Board_elections/2008/en>.

==Timeline==
* Candidate submissions closed on May 22. A total of 15 candidates
nominated themselves during the submissions period. All fifteen have
been confirmed as meeting the requirements and have submitted proof of
identity as required by the rules.

* Eligible voters can now ask questions to candidates on
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Board_elections/2008/Candidates/Questions>.

* This week is dedicated to translation. Under the current rules, a
translated candidates page will not go live until *all* the statements
are translated! Please check your languages and help finish translations.

* Voting starts on 01 June 2008.

==Email notification==
This election the committee will send official email notification to
all eligible voters. If a translation is not available, it will be
sent in English. Users can opt out of the notification on
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_nomail_list> until a better
way is developed.

==Translation==
We currently have 30 translations. If you'd like to help, please see
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Board_elections/2008/Translation>.

Due to the candidate statements, the percentage completed has dropped
significantly for most languages. The voting interface is also
available for translation starting this week, but is not calculated in
the completion percentage.

Translations by percentage completed (total size of complete pages /
total size of all pages):
* 100: ca, de, en, id, zh-hans, zh-hant.
* 32: ar, cs, el, es, fa, fi, fr, it, ja, ko, nb, nl, pl, pt, ru, sv, uk, yue.
* 25: eo.
* 10: he.
* 1+: eu, hr, ml.
* 0: hu.
