contributor base is going to be drawn from. Will people from simple.wp =
be
interested in doing news articles? Can the Wikipedia Academies be =
expanded
to suggest working on Wikinews? - Simple or otherwise. Can we tap into =
the
senior citizen population and get them writing the news so their
grandchildren can read it?

There is no single standardized Simple English. Simple.wp, last time I
checked, didn't have a concrete defined vocabulary... but that was a
while ago, so it may have one now.
