This is a point that I've often wondered about. Considering that we
are an internet-based organization and have internal access to so many
electronic communications media (private wikis, private mailing lists,
private IRC chatrooms), and could likely gain access to other more
advanced types (video telephony, video conferencing, etc) is there
truly a need for  much travel?
