This is a novel question. Redirects certainly serve a variety of useful
functions to deal with problems that appear at various times. They do a
job. Do you have a better way that will be workable for human users,
many of whom know the content well, but would not consider themselves
learnèd in technological solutions.
Birgitte is right. Commons is there to serve the other projects. It
can choose its own policies, but it should not expect other projects to
accommodate them in their policies.
