The forces, companies, and individuals who work on the Internet can be
divided into a number of broad camps, one - containing Google - wants to
know every little detail they can so they have valuable statistics for their
search results, and their advertisers. Or in other words, for commercial
purposes.

Whole networks such as Tor have been set up to allow people to avoid this
prying, there is a thriving market for little tools that clean out the
tracking cookies, and people want to be able to say "It's none of your damn
business what pages I look at on the Internet".

At least I do.
