Exactly. I suspected that was a factor, but nobody has explained that in any
of the reports where they go "ZOMG! The '$100 laptop' costs $200".

The best argument I have heard why the XO is expensive in dollars is that
the cost of the XO is not in dollars. If the dollar had maintained its
value, the XO would be something like $113,-.
