People will scream when it goes too far. It is pretty much
self-regulating. Yes, it tends to be culture-centric and POV, but as
long as it is generally considered non-offensive and non-divisive,
that should not be a problem.
To every rule, there can be an exception.
I do appreciate being notified here beforehand, and I think that
should be general practice. I might have been slightly surprised
seeing a deeply red Chinese Wikipedia logo otherwise ..
