"Distasterous" seems like an intriguing blend of distaste and disaster. :-)

In some respects it is dangerously healthy to have these issues put on 
the table.  The challenges of this project and its associated structures 
are unique in many respects.  There are few, if any, models to go by.  
While I can see where your criticism of the board's knowledge is coming 
from, there remains the question of do we want it run like any other 
business.  I think that broad discussions that bring all interested 
persons into the discussion are important.
