[Foundation-l] Wikimania update

Hello all


In november, the Foundation published a job opportunity for a Wikimania 
organiser.

the history of this mailing list late november.

The outcome of this announcement :

* The job announcement for the event organiser received 4 candidacies, 3 
of them from wikipedians and one from an external party.

* Delphine Ménard (aka notafish) will be a contractant of the Wikimedia 
Foundation Inc, in charge of budget management, registration and 
logistics. This is in large part what she already handled last year with 
success and being an event manager has actually been her real life job 
for several years. For the Foundation, her being legally in charge of 
these issues is a garantee for more financial security. We'll publish in 
the next few days a bit more details about what the contract will include.

* Other aspects of the Wikimania event, such as program, promotion, 
press, sponsorship etc... will be entirely organised by volunteers as 
was the case last year. We hope that all those interested participate in 
the area of their wish.

* Last point, Angela Beesley will be the board member liaison for the 
coordination with the organisation team and Delphine Ménard.
