Yes, and it should also use CSS to make this show up when printing an 
article.

Yep. Ideally, I'd also like to see CC-style icons indicating the 
licensing of the image, at least for well-known licences.

In a collaborative project, authorship information can easily get 
impractically complex to display inline all the time, but we really 
could make it easier to find.

However, we also have to contend with images that were never really 
intended to have a caption, such as icons in templates.
