You only need to tell them: You have a new message at your
[[commons:User Talk:Foo|commons talk page]] ~~~~
Is it so difficult?
I understand that you may not want to register a new account, but
*It will be fixed with SUL
*It's also needed for other tasks, such as replacing images.
*There's a [[Locality_of_reference]]s, you will only need an account on
a quite small number of wikis.
On the other hand, you're welcome to nicely recommend email
notifications (which are a newer system than {{notify me}}).
