I code in PHP, Javascript and Python and have a specific 'want', which is to improve the xtools gadget browser plugin-like thing (which I think will involve the file  xtools/api.php) that currently shows revisions/authors etc. so it can show more data on hover dropdown (like top 10 authors). I've been using this gadget for a year, and it still works but I notice that the full page statistics and pageviews links no longer seem to work.

I don't know much about the current state of these tools, but I may also be up for making some other contributions if needed, depending on their complexity.

I've had a brief look over the mailing list archives and it looks like there is some dissatisfaction with the old code and a rewrite is in progress? (I see the xtools-rebirth repo on github). If someone could give me a brief overview of what's happening with xtools and where things are going that would be great, and an idea of how I can contribute my idea.
