Hi all, I was wondering if WREN wanted to officially submit a session idea for the Wikimania online conference this year (August 13-17). The submissions are a bit different in that you can submit as affiliates or individuals and it's all "closed" on its own system. I jotted down a bunch of GLAM ideas here on this Chat page, in case people wanted to look at the ideas or if WREN wanted to "claim" one of the focus areas: https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2021:Submissions/Chat#GLAM IDEAS: I could see WREN wanting to host #1 (State of GLAM Wiki) since there is no official "GLAM" user group and WREN is perhaps the only steward of this wide space that is an affiliate. I submitted something already for this. Let me know if you'd like to be involved with the lightning talks or the discussion. This is a 90 minute session. Abstract: State of GLAM Wiki in 2021 The State of GLAM Wiki session aims to cover the major accomplishments of the cultural and heritage work in the Wikimedia community in the last year (or two) and to discuss new work and horizons. This session will consist of a background talk on the state of GLAM Wiki for newcomers, a series of lightning talks from different folks in the GLAM space, and a roundtable discussion on future directions and projects. Nice! I would be interested to follow and maybe even to contribute if it would not have only a top tier approach with 'major accomplishments'. Curious of all but no valuable contribution...can only talk on bootstrapping work from scratch here (but would also be curious to discuss such under-priviledged 'development' situations for which WMF has no organized support (aside from experimental WikiLearn with Asaf) and my WREN chats with you and private consultations were useful. Structured Data on Commons: today and tomorrow This roundtable on Structured Data on Commons will provide a quick background on the SDC project, a roundup of best practices, and a showcase of projects and efforts (45 mins).
