Hi all,
A reminder that Wikimania 2025 submissions are due at the end of this month!
It may be helpful to share thoughts here to collaborate on proposals. I'd
encourage folks to send their submissions using the "public link" function
of the Eventyay system so we know what topics folks are working on or if
there's room for collaboration.
Some thoughts on sessions:
– It would be good to have a "Wikimdians in Residence" session as in years
past. The one in Singapore 2023 was crucial to get our major concerns on
the record about the lack of support for metrics and tooling for our GLAM
work. I'm happy to help lead this one.
– A more technical-oriented session around GLAM tools and contribution may
be useful for this group to collaborate on.
– Last year's pre-conference day for the Global GLAM meetup for Wikimania
was highly successful, though its online streaming may not have been
well-known. We could plan for a similar type of session that would be fully
supported on the virtual side.
Feel free to send any ideas or thoughts.
Thanks!

Dear Wikimedians of WREN,
As you may know, Wikimania 2025 will mark the 20th anniversary of this incredible global gathering, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to host it in Nairobi, Kenya from August 6-9, with a pre-conference on August 5. This year’s theme, Wikimania at 20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability., is a powerful call to showcase innovative ideas, collaborative efforts, and meaningful contributions that align with these guiding principles.
We invite you to submit program proposals that resonate with the theme by 31 March 2025. Proposals can take any form—including remote presentations, pre-recorded sessions, or onsite participation in Nairobi.
To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme:
● Case studies on GLAM collaborations that bridge cultural gaps and improve access to underrepresented content on Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia projects;
● A workshop sharing best practices for engaging institutions in improving Wikipedia content for education and research purposes;
● Panel discussion on strategies to ensure Wikimedia partnerships thrive and create lasting benefits for communities.
You bring unique perspectives as Wikimedians in Residence, working closely with institutions to foster collaboration and enhance Wikipedia’s content. This conference is an excellent opportunity to share your expertise and inspire others.
To submit your proposal, please visit the program submission site: https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2025:Program
For inquiries, comments, or assistance with your proposal, please email wikimania(a)wikimedia.org. Our team of dedicated volunteers will be happy to guide you.
Additionally, to support you in developing your proposals, the Programme Subcommittee will host a consultation hour: 📅 Today, Thursday, 20 March 🕐 13:00 UTC (Find your local time at https://zonestamp.toolforge.org/1742475600) 🌐 Video Call Link: https://wikimedia.zoom.us/j/84172058297 💬 Live Interpretation Available in Arabic, French, and Swahili
Let’s make Wikimania 2025 an unforgettable event that reflects the values of inclusivity, impact, and sustainability. I look forward to seeing your creative and inspiring proposals!
Warm regards,

Hi all,
The Digital Public Library of America just put out a job posting for a
part-time contractor to work on our Wikimedia project. This is a Wikipedia
in Residence-type position. This person is primarily going to work with me
to do partner outreach and education related to our Wikimedia Commons
uploads, as well as possibly other initiatives as time permits. We are
looking for someone who already has comfort communicating in the GLAM
sector.
Pay is about $30/hr, so greater than a standard intern pay, but there are
no minimum education or experience requirements. We can only take
applicants authorized to work in the US.
I would love if you could share this with anyone you know who might be a
good fit. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi there!
I hope you are doing fine. I've had problems with the dashboard of our
Wikipedia project.
I've reported about them and see that there are a lot of unanswered
messages:

Do you know what is going on?
Cheers,
