Wikimania 2025 is celebrating 20 years of sharing knowledge under the theme: Wikimania@20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability. The conference will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on August 6-9, with a pre-conference on August 5. We are currently inviting program proposals, and this is your opportunity to shine!
As contributors to the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) campaign, your expertise in making Wikipedia articles more engaging and visually compelling could contribute significantly to Wikimania’s theme. Imagine sharing your innovative approaches to improving content inclusivity and accessibility or how your photo integration work has positively impacted community engagement.
Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing: ● Session on integrating photos to improve article quality and inclusivity. ● Case studies showcasing impactful uses of images from WP photography contests, photowalks, or other community projects. ● Discussions on how photo-driven storytelling supports sustainability and engagement within the Wikimedia movement. ● Interactive sessions on the role of visual media in fostering inclusivity across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts.
Proposals can be in any mode—whether you're presenting onsite in Nairobi, remotely from your location, or through a pre-recorded presentation. The deadline for submissions is 31 March, so don't miss this chance to contribute to an inspiring celebration of Wikimania at 20.

I am the founder of the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) Campaign and have submitted a proposal to present at Wikimania.
