Dear Isaac,

Thank you for your insightful email. We appreciate your commitment to transparency and your dedication to creating a fair and effective review process.

To address the concerns you raised:

1. How many people are scoring proposals?

There are 8 committee members, each of whom is reviewing a portion of the applications. Each proposal will be reviewed by at least two committee members to ensure a balanced perspective.

2. Why are you the only one listed on the scoring sheet?

We're aiming to prevent undue influence between committee members during the review process. Therefore, each member has been given a separate scoring file. This method promotes fair scoring, free from potential external influences.

3. Can the team meet at least once to discuss the modalities for scoring and agree together on the deadline for completing scoring?

We have planned a meeting to be held once the evaluation process is complete and all the applications have been reviewed and scored.

4.Is there something different about the process from your previous experiences on other scholarship committees?

In our previous meeting, we discussed and agreed upon this approach. Among the attendees were members with substantial experience in scholarship committees. Their insights and suggestions helped us enhance these documents and adopt this method. Regrettably, both you and Rachida were unable to attend this meeting.

Regarding the meeting you inquired about, Rida sent the meeting invitation to all members of the Scholarship Committee on Sunday, July 2, from six to seven in the evening, Morocco time. This date was selected through a Doodle poll in which the majority agreed. Six committee members attended, but unfortunately, both you and Rachida were absent. During this meeting, we proposed, discussed, and unanimously agreed to adopt the Wiki Indaba 2023 Scholarship Evaluation Rubric and the Scholarship Review Wiki Indaba 2023 Sheet.

We greatly value your experience and expertise and regret your absence at our initial meeting. To ensure your involvement in future meetings, we will continue our current method of using a Doodle poll for scheduling. We trust that this approach will accommodate all committee members' schedules and secure maximum participation.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions or require additional clarification. Your engagement with the scholarship process is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Rachid

Hello Morocco Team!

It is still not clear how many people are scoring proposals. How many reviewers are scoring proposals?

I note that I am the only one listed on the scoring sheet sent to me.

In order to promote transparency and accountability, we do need to have all the reviewers listed and create a column for each reviewer on the scoring sheet.

I also believe that we ought to meet at least once to discuss the modalities for scoring and agree together on the deadline for completing scoring.

I have served on numerous scholarship committees, including Wikimania and CC Summit, and chaired scholarship committees for at least two Wiki Indaba, but I haven't seen it done this way.

Is there something I am missing? Please let me know.

Thank you.
