We were high and dry in the Heights and never lost electricity. Off to help some friends who were not so fortunate. It has been heartbreaking hearing all of our friends’ stories and not being able to get out to help. All of us in Houston are preparing for a very long recovery.

I second Joy’s message, to all and everyone impacted by this catastrophe. It defies belief. I’m a long way away, but if there’s something constructive in addition to sending money that an out-of-stater can do, please advise. I’m frustrated not to be able to roll up my sleeves and help.
