Hey everyone —

Wind through the trees, you know it’s time for the Festival of Play…!

The first one is this Saturday, April 27, with students from Blackshear, Ortega, Zavala, and Govalle elementary schools in East Austin, along with a small “Saturday Shakespeare” group taught by current Winedale students and the legendary Gonzales Shakespeare Ninjas.

#2 is Saturday May 4 with players from Maplewood, Pease, and Becker schools in Austin; from Sommer, England, and Herrington in the Round Rock ISD; and students from the UT Elementary charter school.

At both festivals, student performances are noon to 2 p.m. with maypole and Eeyore’s Birthday to follow until about 3:30 p.m..  If you’d like to drop by, shoot me a note so I can look out for you.  If you’re coming this Saturday, Jerald can save you a set on the Jerald Head Bench (straw sun hats and guayaberas strongly encouraged).

James’s spring class (which includes a former Camper named August Stromberger, btw…!) will perform “Richard III” on Friday, May 3, and then in the evening after the Festival on the 4th.

Hope to see some of you out under the pecans for one or more of these gatherings!

Cheers,

cs
