Howdy everyone,
Thank you so much for all the pictures, and memories, and inspiration by the way you live your lives. I've lurked so long, but Anne just put me over the edge with flashbacks of flying fruit.
Wow, Doc, your eyes, that sparkle… I miss you.
Tonight it's thunderous rainy in Hong Kong, amid the skyscrapers and mountains. It sure is a long way away from the big skies and fiery sun. And it's impossible to find Triscuits and Shiner Bock in this town. I keep myself human with Tang poets and Shakespeare on my smartphone…
I can still taste the words. Eighteen years later I still daydream of truer ways to say them and I bop myself on the head.
What did I learn from Winedale? Real play is hard work. And knowing that you're a fool still doesn't mean you're not one.
Hope to see you in 2015 (or earlier!). And I'll bring my boys, Timur, Arman, Danil - they're now 6 and 4 and 2… they'd find so much delight in the barn. They want to be pirates and astronauts and trapeze artists, and they can't stop dancing that Gangnam style.
Love to all Mushtaq

Laura --
Thank you so much for the time you put into this, these are beautiful and took me right back to that cool windswept celebration and invited me into many little moments I missed (because we cannot be here and there too!).
The only problem with these photos is that there are none of Laura Smith. Next time we must insist you hand the camera off to someone for a spell so you can be in the slideshow. Perhaps we can weave in some photos from other folks who got a few of you.
What a wonderful group, from the young ones to the even younger ones. Makes me pine for the next gathering already!
cheers,
cs

Hi Doc and Winedaleans -- Here is a link to the photos from Doc's birthday celebration. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lstraverso/sets/72157633121135685/ ( Hope this works -- I'm still a little flummoxed by Flickr. ) Probably too many photos, but such a great time and I couldn't pass up the laughs and smiles that were all around, not to mention the silliness (It was WINEDALE, after all.) I hope I got at least one of everyone there --I apologize to anyone I missed. . .
What a great day, for a great man. Happy birthday, Doc.
