Madge,  Everyone

Thank you all for your wonderfully kind good wishes!

As I said, we two grizzled vets of 30 happily complicated years together find ourselves unexpectedly moved and delighted by this legal recognition-- even though  we've always resisted (or at least questioned) our own conventional notions about marriage. So we're kind of elbowing each other in the ribs about feeling so giddy.

I'm a little  shocked that UT doesn't have domestic partner benefits, Madge.  I thought it would have beaten FSU to the punch.  But  it is harder for most public universities to initiate those kinds of policies because the state legislatures call the tune.

At FSU we are fortunate to have a very strong union and they are the ones that drove this measure.  It really sucks to be second class citizens and it is shameful that you, Lisa and the boys are not legally considered family.  Although you will be for tax purposes from now on.

I'm both glad and dismayed that Wendy Davis is in the running -- dismayed because she won't be part of the Texas legislature if she loses. And dismayed too by Clayton's percentages-- that 40 percent of women polled would not vote for her.

Glad because -- well, you know, someone with guts is in the running.  I just hope that misogynistic oinker Kindy Friedman declines to play spoiler in this race.

I really love all   guys and  even though I have kept play in my life I still miss playing  with you all.

Love,
Terry

Thrilled for you and Donna and FSU.  UT still does not offer domestic partner benefits and I'll be looking for health insurance on the exchange soon because while our sons are covered under Lisa's insurance, I am not.  Sometimes I think Texas will be the last state in the union to come around.  But just today the governor's race just got a bit more interesting, so you never know....

xo,
Madge

I'm assuming I don't get the entire 100 bucks but rather just  50 for getting the name of the Bunny Boat right but the namer (Donald not Robert) wrong.  I hereby declare that anyone who won any money needs to cut a check for said amount to Camp Shakespeare.  So expect a check for 50 from me, Doc.

By the way,  after 30 years of being together (but still not legal), Donna and I will soon be able to get domestic partnership status at Florida State University.  We were married six years ago in San Francisco but of course it meant/means nothing to the state of Florida.

As a consequence of that discrimination, we have had to legally keep everything financial in our relationship completely separate-- meaning  I could not share her health insurance, pension, or any of that.  And for tax purposes, I've had to pay her rent to live in the house we both share.

But now that the IRS is saying that we are a federally recognized married couple and Florida State University is saying the same thing, we can finally marry our fortunes together.

As a chronically underemployed deaf, lesbian performance artist I don't bring quite as much to the table as a tenured full professor, but what the hell!

Being  legally (as least as far as the FEDs and FSU go)  as well as spiritually married is  making us both feel weirdly, stupidly giddy.

Who would a thunk it.

Love and uh yippee!
Terry

The Bunny Boat. And it was named before I ever set eyes on it.  I thought it was Robert Jackson who named it.

I can't remember the name but somehow I think Terry G must have named it, since
she absconded with it often. Didn't she? (Good try, Alice, self-pat self-pat
self-pat....)

Jayne was swift and certain with Eric's question. Here's another two-part
question for $100. (1) what was the name of my Jeep? (2) who named it?
