May be the download speed is too low? It may stop the video when you are playing the video since the video is not completely download.

What's the problem exactly? The Commons-hosted video works fine for me on Chrome and Firefox.

Most likely, the video is buffering weirdly. Could be a function of where you are geographically...

If you're having issues you can also use Vimeo in conjunction with universalsubtitles.org. But Steve would have to ease the embedding restrictions first.

Oh... The main purpose for uploading the video the WM commons is for the sub-title translating and this cannot be done on vimeo or youtube.

Or Steven Walling or Jay Walsh may you upload the video to commons again?

Video can be downloaded from Vimeo in a high resolution format as well - just check the right side of the page.

Thanks!

Hey Leinad,

We can definitely try to do that, but for now if there are quality issues with the OGG files on Commons the best solution is to watch the versions on Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/wmfoundation) or YouTube (http://youtube.com/wikipedia).

Hey,

Many users complain that it's difficult to play video:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WalesCalltoAction.ogv (video
from main page of ten.wiki) - the problem occurs in Firefox and
Chrome, but the Opera works fine.

Could you re-convert video and re-upload to the Commons? - I hope it
will resolve problem.

2011/1/10 Ben Moskowitz <benrito@gmail.com>:
I uploaded these files to Commons:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:WalesAnniversaryAddress.ogv
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:WalesCalltoAction.ogv
If you click the closed caption (CC) icon on the editor, you can use
Universal Subtitles to add captions or create translations into any
language.
Someone should upload the English .srt so people can immediately begin
translating.
Cheers,
Ben
