Dear Anna,
Thank you for following up with the WikiWomenCamp!
The conversations from WikiWomenCamp have continued at Diversity Conference in Stockholm, where a significant number of talks, discussions and informal meetups were about gender diversity, friendly spaces and equity. Some of the participants from WikiWomenCamp who attended Diversity conference were Carmen, Rosie, Camelia, Jaime, Marti and me. The formal discussions at the conference were meticulously summarized, and you can read them
here.
The next best opportunity for continuing the conversation, I think, is Wikimania 2018. A pre-conference is a very good idea, and we should aim to make it happen. It doesn't have to be a two day event if the planning, logistics etc are hard to take care of, it is okay to schedule it as a half-day event, too. Several awesome women attend Wikimania every year, so getting the participants to South Africa will not be much of a problem. In having organized WikiWomen's lunch for some years now, I have a strong feeling that lunch meetups are too short to make meaningful conversations happen. We need to plan for something that involves longer, structured conversations and careful documentation.
I am interested in listening to what others think about this idea.
Regards
Netha
