I have read a little bit about what the mission is with this project and if you could provide with a little more information related to what ways my assistance could be best utilized, that would help me tremendously.  I currently have a few hours of spear time that I would enjoy using toward making Wikipedia, or more specifically Wikiversity, a better source of online information.  I look forward to being part of the team and hearing from you soon.

First, I should point out that Wikiversity (and Wikipedia) are actually part of the Wikimedia Foundation's projects. Wikipedia is the best known, but there are projects for a dictionary, books, news reporting, and a few others.

While Wikiversity could use your help in dozens of areas, my advice would be to persue an area that interests you, or an area you have studied or are studying. We actively encourage "learning projects", which allow people to tackle a subject and impart what they've learned to the community.

There are a few spots to check out if this doesn't narrow down your choices or you are still having trouble finding someplace to start. The  "meeting place" at Wikiversity is called the Colloquium ( http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Colloquium ), and is a great place for feedback and ideas. Another spot is the list of redlinks ( http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Special:Wantedpages ), those pages which one contributor has placed a link for but for which a page has not been created yet. You can also check out formal request for a page or topic, which are here ( http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Page_creation_requests ).

If you want to help with the organisation or adminstration of pages, the best place to come is the IRC channel #wikiversity-en. The simplest way to get started is to follow this link ( http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Wikiversity:Chat#Web_based_versions ), click on " CGI IRC platform" and choose "Wikiversity-en" from the dropdown list. (That page lists other access methods too, if you feel comfortable with IRC or setting it up, but the web cgi version is quite good and requires only a web browser on your computer).

Hopefully this has give you someplace to start. If not, feel free to ask more questions!

Thanks,
Gerald (Historybuff @ Wikiversity)
