Goal for this sprint:***Migration of blubber /
blubberoid to GitLab*
This sounds great, but...that also means blubber is going to disappear
from IRC notifications[1], will be disconnected from Phabricator[2], etc.
IRC notification won't work.
For Phabricator:
* The "Bug:" footer works—it will link between GitLab commits and
Phabricator tasks.
* Phabricator maintenance bot won't apply the #patch-for-review tag.
* The fancy Phabricator "Details" section showing open patches in
Gerrit won't work.
The ticket for getting wikibugs hooked up to GitLab
has been waiting for
RelEng input since November. Can we get it prioritized as part of this
sprint?
We have left that task waiting for a while. We planned to look at it
this quarter, but the person we planned to do that work is no longer
here, so we're behind.
We finalized the tasks for the 🦊🚀GitLab-a-thon at the end of last
week (so we could dedicate this week to deep work).
The goals we have are on the MediaWiki page[0]:
* Blubber exists on GitLab
* CI Runs on Commits and Merge Requests to Blubber
* We can build Blubber image using GitLab's CI
* We can deploy a Blubber image build via GitLab's CI
The meta goal is to have (most of) the answers to the question: how do
I migrate/create my Kubernetes service to/in GitLab?
Personally, the lack of integration with an issue
tracker is the main
reason the mwbot-rs project[3] is still on
gitlab.com rather than
Wikimedia GitLab, I'm really itching to move it over but can't.
:(
It's helpful to know this is blocking you, so thanks for that.
We still intend to work on this task. I've moved it into Release
Engineering's priority backlog (work coming up in the next couple of
weeks) and updated the task with the info above.
No one on our team has started work on this task. We won't get it done
this week. But we'll look at it soon, and it's useful to know it's a
blocker for moving some real projects.
Thanks!
