Do your eyes glaze over when trying to make sense of Phabricator tasks with a long and troubled history of patches? Do you struggle to find the real people in the sea of automated bot comments?
I've made myself a user style to compact the Gerritbot comments on Phabricator. You might like it too: https://userstyles.world/style/13140/wikimedia-phabricator-reduce-gerritbot-...
(See screenshots and installation instructions there.)
Thanks Bartosz!

Thanks :)
You'll need to install a browser extension (add-on) that allows adding user styles, and then add this style to it.
There are button on the page I linked that should somewhat guide you through it. The simplest way is to click "Get Stylus", follow the links there to your browser's add-ons site, and install it; then come back to that page, click "Install" and then confirm it.
Thank you so much, I managed to install it. It's working nicely, but looks weird while using Darkreader. See this screenshot: https://prnt.sc/rZAAB6yKbcBH
Is there some workaround?

I just updated it, rearranging things slightly so as to avoid setting background colors. Try now, I hope it works better. It may still not be perfect, but that's probably as good as it gets.
It's much better now, thank you!

Public service announcement: This user style will ease the pain of making sense of long Phabricator tasks. Try it today!
I'm bumping this for anyone who hasn't seen it the last time. A while ago I made it also collapse comments by CodeReviewBot (for Gitlab patches), and more recently I updated it to collapse comments by Stashbot (for deployments) as well.

I am very happy to let you know that these styles are now a part of our Phabricator (Phorge) installation and enabled for everyone. No need to use a browser extension any more. Thanks to Andre for approving and deploying this. (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T393289)
Problems can be reported under the #Phabricator tag in Phabricator, and improvements can be made to the file here: https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/repos/phabricator/phabricator/-/blob/wmf/stable...
Enjoy!

Yes, that's why. Note that there are supposed to be small markers wherever a bot timeline entry is hidden, which would allow viewing them: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/F71469058 but at the moment they are invisible due to a bug we overlooked when porting the styles to Phabricator. This should be fixed in the coming days.

Great, thanks! I mean, until now there was "jenkins-bot merged ..." with "jenkins-bot" linking to its page. Now all the message has single link elsewhere. To important place, but IMHO one link is not enough. Igal

I don't think that part was ever a link. The gerritbot comments always only had a single link to the patch being uploaded or merged (and a link to gerritbot's own Phabricator profile, which is still accessible by clicking on the avatar/icon). There is no link to the Gerrit profile of the patch author or approver, although it would be neat if there was one.
You can see a screenshot of Phabricator task view with some gerritbot comments, as it was before the changes, here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/F59789403
It's graphical, you can't see links. But I think the performer name was with link. I can be wrong, of course. Igal

It really wasn't :) (unless you had some other browser extension that added one? I know some folks had their own tweaks). You can click on the dropdown arrow in the top-right corner of the timeline item, then "View Raw Remarkup", to verify that there really is no link there.
So, it's my memory glich, I trust you. Igal

I filed a task earlier for the possibility of introducing a user-preference that could be used to disable the new styles (for folks that would like to do so): https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T414083
It seems like a relatively simple change to make in the code as far as I can see, but more use-cases are welcome on that task in case that's a change that you'd be interested in seeing :)
