I use wikimedia on intranet and I want to make a document (and folder) link (for download it)
But I read in the wiki's help, than can't possible to use [files:\toto\folder\tata.pdf] where toto is name server (windows). I can't make alias on folder with Apache (I'm not system root in my work, only advance user)
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Aide:URL -> # 1 URL dans les liens externes
I don't want a use ftp for publishing doc.
If someone have solution.... ps: sorry for my English write.

The real problem isn't that you can't tell MediaWiki to render file://foo as a link, but that a lot of modern browsers won't show such links for various security reasons.
See http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgUrlProtocols.

Can you elaborate on that? Which browsers won't show them, and in which contexts? Also your URL didn't work.

1. Google for it. Someone did a load of tests with a load of different browsers once. Check the old FAQ on Meta.
2. Doesn't surprise me. Nevertheless, I'm sure if you're competent enough to use MediaWiki, you're probably competent enough to use a search engine, and MediaWiki.org has one of those.
