For some lovely reason our new mail server has been blacklisted by SpamCop, allegedly for sending mail to spamtrap addresses. (They provide no details by policy, of course, so there's no way to verify it.)
Since there's a tiny possibility that the user-to-user email feature actually could be abused, I've gone ahead and enabled the e-mail confirmation requirement for using email features. This is a bit annoying for the moment since you have to do it separately on each wiki.
I've disputed the listing, so hopefully we'll get it removed soonish and those who aren't getting email will, uh, start getting it again.

At least they don't try to blackmail people for money, like sorbs.net do.
I have been going for all my accounts to send myself the verification code. It's not a nice, work, but i can do it as i noticed of it. However i am sure some people at smaller wikis won't notice, specially if they are not very active contributors.
I think that the confirmation should be automatically sent for all address, at least if they had "Enable e-mail from other users" set. Probably some escalated method should be used, and some filtering like requiring at least 5 edits, or the last edit after X date (so the user is quite active).
I like however, that new accounts send the confirmation automatically. Maybe some unconfirm email could be interesting too. (Click here if you don't did this), so some statitics could be done, between confirmed, unconfirmed (forgot, lost acount, etc.) and those which someone refused to have asked that.
Is this set for all wikipedias or just the english one? There' a bit of confusion :)
