Such as the one in WordPress

This may have been a good candidate for a post to the Mediawiki-l list instead of the developer list, but I'm not always spot on on those judgments myself. [1]
As far as I know we don't have one pdf document, but there is lots of documentation for new users such as http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Editing_pages

Not currently, though you might find somewhere some usability reviews of the existing UI. At some point we'll want to do some redesigns to the skin; some planning has gone on on such fronts but nothing "official" or that's been adopted yet.
