In the past, I found it useful to be able to use "and not" in my search (in particular to filter out the Rambot pages when looking for years). I recently found that it does not work - or more precisely, that it does not work on the English Wikipedia. It does work on the others (checked only Dutch and German). What is going on, and why?

Search is one of the slowest things on the wiki. I disabled our boolean search to cut down on the number of matches it tries to perform.
