I had 2FA which prevented me to login to Pywikibot with my admin account. At least I couldn't guess how to do it. So I switched off 2FA, and after solving the task I tried to set it back. The button sends me to https://auth.wikimedia.org/huwiki/wiki/Speci%C3%A1lis:AccountSecurity where there is bo switch on any more. I only have there auth apps. I tried to add the same app again, but uselessly.
With 2FA I cannot use my bot for admin tasks, without 2FA I cannot use my CU tools.
How to switch back 2FA?
Hi!
Recently, the Product Safety and Integrity team shipped an update to the AccountSecurity special page (that's why it looks differently than earlier and it's now on auth.wikimedia.org). The authenticator apps section should work properly, and if it doesn't, I encourage you to file a Phabricator ticket for that. (I'm also working in that team, but I wasn't involved in that projects, so I don't hve any behind-the-scenes knowledge).
For using bots with admin accounts, I recommend setting a bot password (using Special:BotPasswords), which is not subject to 2FA and can have a scope reduced (in comparison with interactive access).

Please file a good bug report, ideally with a screenshot: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/43/
Thanks, andre
Hi Binaris,
I think the "on button" is the "Add authenticator app" one, aka when you add a 2nd factor, 2FA is automatically enabled. At least that's how it worked for me in your situation. I agree it's not very clear and I encourage you to file a bug report.
Best, Strainu

I tried that, and the same account is listed twice in the authenticator. But the 2FA is still not turned on. I will do the ticket, I did not have time yet.

On the "Enable Authenticator app" page, once you set up your authenticator app, you need to scroll down to "Step 4: Verification", provide one of the codes from the app there and click "Submit". 2FA is not enabled until you do that. This is to verify that your app is working correctly, and that you will be able to log in with it.
