Forwarding this from wikipedia-l. I should add: why stop at 256*100 bytes? When I originally instituted it, the limit of 5 gave a maximum text size of about 30 MB. Perhaps we should have a limit of 2 MB text size, plus some kind of direct check for circular inclusions.

Hi all, There a security limit that prevent to use more than 5 times the same template in the same page. Waiting to found a better solution, I'd like to set this limite to 100 for template less than 256 bytes. (256 * 100 = maximum 25 Kb) I can do it myself in source, but no objection ?

You also need to implement article text caching, otherwise 100 inclusions of the same template will require 100 identical database queries. Why is this on wikipedia-l not wikitech-l?
