Hi!
I understand that Wikimedia servers run almost directly from CVS HEAD (erm, I mean SVN trunk). If that is so, what does the revision number at Special:Version mean (as it is quite behind SVN trunk)? And, if I am wrong and the number is correct, how come Brion's fix to bug #6126 (thanks, Brion!) committed as r14493 seems to work on Commons, where the special page reports 1.7alpha (r14374) ?
Thanks for any explanation,

When comitted to SVN, new things/changes are not visible instantly on the sites. There is a process called synchronization that basically synchronizes the SVN repo with the installations on the servers. The point is that the period between committing and syncing can vary and, depending on the server sysops, it can be as long as a couple of minutes (if you really bug them ;) ) or it could take more than a few days. Hi!
Thanks, I know that, I wrote "almost directly" because of that. But what I'd like to know is: does the number on [[Special:Version]] (currently: r14374, which has been committed "6 days, 1 hour ago") display the version that is synchronized and running on servers? Or, what other number does it display? (And, in that case, is there a place I could learn the exact revision number of the version running there?)

Yes, usually. Sometimes it's a little flaky, particularly if only individual files have been recently updated.
