Exactly. But there should be more than one link; also offer other sizes (resolutions):
800x600 1024x768
and an entry box where the user can enter the size he is interested in. If possible display the pixel size of the original image.
These reduced images should get a special border of some kind to indicate there's an even larger version.
A special border isn't reqired; just make the original size a hyperlink.
