It must be possible, Corel Mosaic (iirc?) let you do this back in the early 90s.
I'll make a vector version of the existing logo... For logos we should attempt to use vector logos wherever possible, raster images aren't as flexible, and the fine detail doesn't tend to survive in many applications anyways.
