Redirects take a lot of non-creative, mind-numbing work to set up and
maintain. And
there are still massive gaps that redirects don't cover. From
that point of view, they're broken.
But anyway, my proposal seems to boil down to: "Only
use redirects to find stuff, not to link to."
What would happen if we made redirects show up as red links? If you clicked
the red link, you would be taken to the target of the redirect, but it would
be sufficiently annoying that you would probably fix the original article.
Again, we'd need some way to mark those few deliberate redirects links.
